Center for Peace and Democracy Development has organized during month of May three round tables – one in Novi Sad on the 15th of May, other in Nis on the 22nd of May and third in Belgrade on 29th of May, regarding Model of Law on Prevention of domestic violence.

These round tables are part of the project My home – safe home, that is supported by European Commission, and is implemented by Center with partnership organization, Anti-trafficking Center.
Goal of this project is adoption of Law on prevention of domestic violence that will be adjusted to EU standards and based on domestic experience in dealing with consequences of domestic violence, Goal is also to adopt the law that systematically regulates domestic violence, enables fast, efficient and lasting protection of threatened family members and enables cooperation between institutions in a single process of protection and human rights monitoring. Round tables gathered experts that deal with this field in different ways – legal experts – prosecutors, judges, misdemeanor judges, attorneys, police and experts from centers for social work, representatives from nongovernmental organizations that work on protection of human rights, representatives of ombudsman and international organizations that work on protection of human rights, as well as decision makers – representatives of Ministries, board for gender equality etc.

On all three round tables Model of Law on prevention of domestic violence was presented by authors of this model – Sasa Gajin, Tanja Drobnjak and Violeta Kocic Mitacek, while Center for Peace and Democracy Development was represented by Marina Jelic – executive director – in Novi Sad and Nis, and in Belgrade by Vesna Pesic President of governing board. In Belgrade, gathered were addressed also by Nevena Vuckovic Sahovic – founder of Center for children rights and professor on Legal faculty of University Union. Round table in Novi Sad was organized in Spens media center, in Nis in Regional center for professional development of employees in education and in Belgrade also in Media Center.
