ABOUT US
The Center for Peace and Democracy Development (CPDD) is a visionary non-governmental organization that was established in 1991 in Belgrade, as the Center for Antiwar Action (CAA).
VISION
To make war and dictatorship in the Balkans a thing of the past - never again!
MISSION
The Mission of the CPDD is to establish a durable peace, democracy, cooperation, and reconciliation in Serbia and among its neighbors - countries and peoples in the region.
This will be done by vigorously opposing belligerent actions and attitudes and by promoting a culture of non-violence, democratic leadership, rule of law, good governance, respect for human rights and principles of non-discrimination, building democratic institutions, development of local-self government, participation of well informed and active citizens responsible for their own futures, vibrant civil society.
The CPDD believes that these are the conditions that are necessary to prevent the violence of the past, create a sustainable transition to a true modern democracy and promote accelerated development in Serbia with a clear vision of the whole region’s place in the European Union.

STRATEGY
The CPDD works to accomplish its mission and values through educational programs for young people and professionals, by creating public awareness of the importance of peace and democracy, by facing the past and working towards reconciliation, by developing sound public policy and monitoring implementation of laws, by encouraging best practices in governance and capacity building in human resources and public institutions, and through network building and cooperation with other nongovernmental organizations, local governments, socially responsible businesses and professional organizations, at local, national and regional levels.
CPDD GOALS
The CPDD’s most important goals are to: establish stability, democracy, and peace in the Balkans through regional cooperation, tolerance, and mutual respect among diverse peoples and cultures; to initiate and promote post-war reconciliation; to promote Serbia full integration into EU; to promote human rights and the rule of law; to support national minority groups in their efforts to preserve and develop their cultures and identities; to support all vulnerable groups, refugees, IDPs, migrants; to promote gender equality and equal opportunity for women and men; to enhance the democratic and economic development of Serbia.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The CPDD is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with a Governing Board of five members and an International Advisory Board.
The CPDD has a President of the Governing Board and an Executive Director, project leaders, professional associates, office staff, and volunteers.
